wedding

Just a quick post to thank all of the incredible vendors who helped execute the most outrageous reception of all time – OURS! Phil and I have decided that it’s impossible to say thank you as many times as we feel it’s necessary, so here is our one big thank you:

To all of the couples out there planning a wedding, USE OUR VENDORS! Seriously, use each and every one of our vendors. You will not be disappointed!

Let Edge host your affair in their stunning dining room and lounge. They’ll also serve up insanely delicious food and perfectly mixed cocktails.

Have Sarah at Allium Design take over flowers and decor. She’ll create an atmosphere you thought only possible in your dreams.

Call up Jesus at Pure Mix DJ and have your guests dancing ALL night long (like from the second they walk through the door to the very last song .. and then two songs after that!).

The Flour Shop will fix your sweet tooth with an oh-so-yummy wedding cake and any miniature dessert you can think of. Try their butter cookies!

And last, but absolutely not least, ask Alison Conklin to capture the magic. How can one person see ALL OF THIS in one night?

So once again, thank you thank you thank you. You mean the world to us.

Who wants cake?

OK, so I’ve never had a birthday cake – well, I’ve never had a traditional birthday cake. For my 29 birthdays, it’s always been ice cream cake, chocolate chip cookie (pizza) pies, even fruit salad, but NEVER cake. Cake is dry and crumbly. Cake is tasteless. Cake is nothing more than a vehicle for icing, and between you and me, there’s too much cake in relation to buttercream!

This is how I felt until I met my husband’s mom, Cheets (I’m still lost on the nickname!). Cheets absolutely adores cake; Actually, the entire family adores cake, making it crucial for me to find something about cake to love. My number of family celebrations where cake is sure to be served has now doubled – It’s sink or swim time!

Back to Momma F. I knew I could trust Cheets to show me the very best that cake has to offer, so I decided to share a slice (baby steps!) when she picked up a cake from The Flour Shop in Bethlehem. The cake was amazing. It was like no other cake I’d ever tasted .. and I’ve tasted a lot of cake over the years. The cake was moist, slightly sticky and tasted like real dark chocolate. The buttercream was velvety and perfectly not-too-sweet. It was true cake perfection.

Since my first Flour Shop experience, I’ve happily indulged in any piece of Flour Shop cake I can get my hands on. Especially the Perfectly Pink Seashell Cake served at our wedding celebration this past Saturday (check out the nice shots my brother-in-law took!). And just to explain how serious I am about this bakery, we dragged this pretty little cake all the way to Cape May, NJ so that I could eat cake at my wedding. Lol! Actually, Cheets dragged it (thanks mom!).

So if you’re one of those people who has sworn of dry, tasteless cake forever, you owe it to yourself to check out The Flour Shop and GIVE CAKE ONE MORE SHOT. I promise you won’t be disappointed.

Dine Indie Tonight

Wednesday, June 3rd, 2009

dine_indie2After a week of lousy dinners, offered up by a dizzying number of chain restaurants surrounding our hotel, Phil and I finally smartened up and logged on to DineIndie.com for some (seriously overdue) dining assistance. Dine Indie is an incredible web resource for finding out where the locals eat .. and the team never lets us down!

Phil and I only had two requirements for last night’s dining experience: The restaurant had to be within 20 minutes of our hotel and it had to serve something SPICY! Dine Indie directed us to Moritomo, a local Japanese Steakhouse and Sushi Bar, and our night couldn’t have started out on a better note. We were parked outside Moritomo within 15 minutes of leaving the hotel and chowing down on Wasabi Shumai and something they call “The Fireball” before we even tasted our wine. It was truly the perfect ending to our crazy 12-hour day on set. Thanks Dine Indie!

So before heading out on your next culinary adventure, be sure the hit up DineIndie.com for some tasty advice. It’s the food you’re really looking for.

4cookiesIt’s not every day you swing by your relatives’ house for dinner and are completely wow-ed by dinner AND dessert! Phil is still talking about my brother’s smoked chicken wings (yes .. he smoked wings!) and I’m wishing my sis-in-law lived closer so I could have chocolate dipped sandwich cookies every night!  Not only did she dip the delicious double stuffed bites into colorful melted chocolate, she used adorable cookie molds with animal faces that my nephew went crazy for (OK I’ll be honest, we ALL went crazy for them!).

I know, I know .. I’m such a Mean-y. All I do is write about our tasty eating experiences and all you can do is drool. Not today, Sauced friend! My sister-in-law’s new company, dipped, custom designs these creative little bites to order for any (and every) occasion. The cookie desserts can be individually packaged as favors or presented on a party tray .. for immediate consumption! For more information, email dipped and tell them you’re a friend of Sauced!
