Wow. One minute it’s the holidays, the next .. it’s almost February! Here’s a few pics to fill you in on what Sauced has been up to since Phil’s last “Sauced in Utah” blog. You probably thought we never came back

Double-Double Animal Style in Vegas: Here we are hitting up our favorite burger joint on the west coast, In-N-Out. We order them the only way you should eat them – double meat, all the traditional fixings, extra “spread” and grilled onions. Yea, that’s ANIMAL style!

Freezing our buns off in Zion National Park: We weren’t exactly dressed for a snow day, but hiking through this magical scene was the perfect way to work up an appetite for more burgers. We picked up a nice bottle of red before leaving Vegas to help with the chill in the air

So Jill and I had this brilliant idea to diet. Really for no other reason than performing a subtle detox. My parents were the providers of the literature on the diet. Rumor has it, you can loose 15 pounds in two weeks! I remember seeing the copied pages on my parents’ kitchen counter when I was growing up. The reason it sticks out is because usually the pantry inventory took a huge turn for the worse, especially in the eyes of a growing boy. Suddenly, the Keebler Soft Batch cookies were replaced by melba toast and the Chef Boyardee raviolis were hidden far behind copious amounts of canned lite peaches. We went shopping for the stuff last night and I was able to take a trip down memory lane. I’m gonna give you a rundown on our shopping cart last night, the quick and dirty version. Melba toast and canned lite peaches, tons of them! There were other floaters of course, even some decent stuff like blueberry Eggo waffles, but most noticeably present were the variety of juices which is what we consumed today .. only juice. Orange juice at 830am, vegetable juice at 1030am, peach nectar at 1230pm, cranberry juice at 230pm, tomato juice at 430pm, grape juice at 630pm and apple juice at 830pm to be exact. That was the entire day in a nutshell. Wow, right? Surprisingly, I feel pretty good, just hungry…haha! We definitely approached the diet right thought. Amongst the floaters that I mentioned before were some raviolis and sauce. This was one of my favorite meals growing up and it was right around the time when I remember my parents on the “diet.” Last night Jill and I ate our fair share to gear up for the dreadful day 1 of juice consumption. I think I ate a pound!
